The official position of Marvel Studios’ newest Disney+ series Secret Invasion in the MCU’s timeline was revealed. According to rumours, Secret Invasion takes place in the modern MCU after the events of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. It also marks the start of Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which began less than a year after the first season of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’s nine episodes ended. Currently, Secret Invasion’s season premiere is off to a rocky start. The programme itself has received accolades, but it has also drawn criticism for its debatable use of artificial intelligence to produce its opening title sequence during the ongoing WGA writers strike. Ali Selim, the director of Secret Invasion, addressed the concern and clarified that the concepts of the Marvel spy thriller are genuinely reflected in the artwork. “That was part of it when we reached out to the AI suppliers, you know? It just came straight out of the shape-shifting, Skrull world identity. That person, who? This is who? said Selim.

Samuel L. Jackson plays the series’ protagonist. Marvel fans will meet a new Nick Fury, who has been irrevocably altered by the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, as seen in earlier previews. He returns to Earth after spending a very long time away on a new mission to protect mankind from the approaching Skrull invasion. Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Don Cheadle as Rhodey, and Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross are among the returning MCU actors who will appear with Jackson. In addition, Secret Invasion will mark the debuts of many newcomers to the franchise, including Dermot Mulroney as U.S. President Ritson, Olivia Colman as MI6 spy Sonya Falsworth, Kingsley Ben-Adir as the renegade Skrull commander Gravik, and Emilia Clarke as Talos’ daughter G’iah.

Following the conclusion of Secret Invasion on July 26, Marvel Studios is slated to produce Loki 2 in the autumn of 2023, with Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as the beloved God of Mischief. Along with a new cast member, Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan, Hiddleston will be joined by well-known actors Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Wunmi Mosaku. Echo, What If…?, and Loki will then be released after Loki. Ironheart, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, and Daredevil: Born Again are included in Season 2. While Echo will launch on November 29, the last three are set to make their individual Disney+ debuts in 2024. Production on the Daredevil revival has repeatedly been put on hold because of the ongoing writers’ strike. It’s unclear if these postponements would also influence Born Again’s anticipated release date.
