Disney has shared new details about an exciting addition to the Disneyland Resort this summer – the MCU’s first-ever live-action musical. The production, called Rogers: The Musical, first appeared in the Disney+ series Hawkeye and quickly became a popular Easter egg within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, as part of the Disney100 Celebration limited-time engagement, Disney and Marvel Studios are making it a reality.
Disney released a teaser for Rogers: The Musical back in February, showing Peggy Carter holding the musical’s playbill. But now, the company has unveiled a first look at the production and some exciting spoilery details. The concept art shows that Rogers: The Musical will highlight Steve Rogers’ Captain America origin story, revisiting his time-traveling adventures in Avengers: Endgame, his romance with Peggy Carter, and his role in the Battle of New York from 2012’s The Avengers.
The 30-minute show will run from Tuesday through Saturday most weeks at the Hyperion Theater at the Disney California Adventure. The song list includes “Save the City” from Hawkeye, “Star Spangled Man” from Captain America: The First Avenger, and five new original songs. Nick Fury will also make an appearance and, according to Disney, will be singing.
The Hyperion Theater is located next to the park’s Avengers Campus, making it a convenient and fitting location for this limited-time event. However, it’s important to note that Rogers: The Musical is not a permanent addition to the park, and audiences should make sure to catch it before it ends.
Disney intends to release show dates and times, as well as Rogers: The Musical-themed merchandise, in the coming weeks. The production is set to debut on June 30 and promises to be a fast-paced and exciting retelling of Captain America’s journey through some of the most iconic moments in the MCU. Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe won’t want to miss this unique and historic production.
