I wish there had been a season 2 of the hero’s show already after seeing the new Marvel artwork that features Moon Knight in the vintage Disney 2-D style. The first season of Moon Knight, starring Oscar Isaac, debuted on Disney+ on March 30, 2022. Six episodes made up the first season, which was about standard for Marvel TV series at that stage in the MCU’s development. Despite the fact that Moon Knight season 2 has not been formally confirmed, Marvel’s recent shift in show production methods gives me faith that it will ultimately happen. Among the TV shows produced by Marvel Studios, Moon Knight swiftly won over fans, and Oscar Isaac’s performances in the series were highly praised. X user @MarkBrooksArt recently shared some amazing fan art of the MCU’s Moon Knight, reinventing Oscar Isaac’s character in the vintage Disney 2-D animation style, as fans eagerly await the character’s return to the MCU chronology.
Like any outstanding fan art, this Moon Knight work stands out for taking a different approach by imagining what the live-action character might have looked like if the MCU series had debuted during Disney’s hand-drawn animation era. Disney Animation’s dominance peaked in the 1990s, when it produced some of the most recognizable animated films and character designs ever. The attention to detail of Moon Knight’s MCU outfit is unparalleled, and it closely resembles its comic book counterpart. This fan art demonstrates how excellent the MCU outfit is already by slightly simplifying the design while preserving its essence. In fact, if the Moon Knight artwork were completely animated, its style and design would be stunning. Because of their comic book roots, superheroes make excellent animated films, and it would be advantageous for Marvel Studios to focus more on this aspect of the business in the future. The forthcoming Marvel 2025 animated TV slate is promising, and X-Men ’97 received much praise. The Moon Knight artwork serves as a reminder that, although if the most of the animated films that have previously been published have their own unique visual aesthetic, it wouldn’t be a bad idea for a project to employ the vintage Disney aesthetic at some point in the franchise’s future.
