The release date of Jonathan Majors’ next Disney movie, Magazine Dreams, has been postponed while he continues to cope with mounting legal issues and a domestic violence prosecution. There is no longer a premiere date for Magazine Dreams, which was supposed to hit theatres on December 8, according to rumours. The movie’s release date has not been announced, and no formal explanation for its removal has been provided. Disney, who was originally planning to co-release the movie with Searchlight Pictures, changed their mind. This comes after the media giant first defended their choice to show the movie on its intended date during a Q3 earnings conference. The story of Majors’ main character, Killian Maddox, an ambitious bodybuilder who finds it difficult to connect with others, is told in Magazine Dreams. Despite medical professionals’ cautions, Killian disregards their advice in his quest for fame and glory as he attempts to establish himself as a reputable bodybuilder. The Elijah Bynum-directed film, which starred Haley Bennett, Mike O’Hearn, and Taylour Paige, had a successful international debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January. However, CinemaCon cancelled Magazine Dreams from its debut slate after learning about Majors’ legal issues following his arrest and subsequent arraignment on charges of assault and harassment arising from an alleged incident in New York this past March.

A Lower Manhattan court denied a move to dismiss the case, so Majors is scheduled to go on trial in his domestic violence charge on November 29. Majors is facing allegations that, after a night out on the town, he assaulted his ex-partner Grace Jabbari. He has vehemently rejected these claims, claiming that Grace Jabbari later changed her mind. After the event, Jabbari was taken into custody, but the Manhattan District Attorney’s office released him without charging him. Since then, Majors has been the target of several abuse charges from both inside and outside the film business; nevertheless, his legal team has defended him against the accusations by citing his preference for certain methods and discrimination. Due to his legal issues, Majors has seen several projects go unfinished, including Magazine Dreams, which are currently in jeopardy. He lost several endorsements, including those from the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball and the United States Army, and was fired from the Otis Redding biopic, which followed the jazz great. After his arrest in March, he was also fired by Entertainment 360, his talent management. Majors, who is most known for playing Kang the Conqueror and all of his incarnations in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is now starring as 19th-century scientist Victor Timely in Season 2 of the Disney+ series Loki. Majors, who received plaudits for his performance in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, will play the same character in the upcoming Avengers movies, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. Marvel has refuted any intentions to recast Kang anytime soon, despite his legal troubles.
