The multiverse is explored considerably more in the recently released movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. In contrast to its 2018 predecessor, which established the idea of alternate dimensions, the sequel goes above and beyond to establish the Spider-Verse, which is constantly growing, by having Miles Morales, its protagonist, actually visit a number of these worlds. Spider-Gwen’s Universe (Earth-65)
Gwen Stacy, commonly known as Ghost Spider, Spider-Gwen, or Spider-Woman, resides on Earth-65, the first planet encountered in Across the Spider-Verse. The opening action scene of the movie is set in Gwen’s timeline, when she joins forces with Jessica Drew and Miguel O’Hara to stop a Vulture from another dimension from wreaking havoc on the defenceless citizens of New York City. Earth-65 is shown in Across the Spider-Verse in the manner of a pastel painting, which is quite true to Spider-Gwen’s persona. In this other history, Gwen Stacy acquired abilities after being bitten by the radioactive spider. In an attempt to duplicate these abilities, Gwen’s best friend Peter Parker mistakenly transformed himself into the Lizard, which resulted in his demise. But despite all of this suffering and sorrow, Gwen Stacy managed to become one of the Spider-Verse’s most powerful Spider-Mans.
The Venomverse (Earth-688)
The Spot lands at a convenience shop that looks eerily like one he’s seen before while travelling around the multiverse. He has visited Earth-688, the location of Venom and the other films in the Venomverse, it is revealed there. The Spot speaks briefly with Mrs. Chen, the store owner, who is unimpressed, and then leaves after robbing him of a pack of gum through one of his portals. Earth-688 is home to a variety of antiheroes, including as Morbius the Living Vampire, Kraven the Hunter, and Venom, an extraterrestrial symbiote that mated with journalist Eddie Brock after arriving on the planet. A number of scary supervillains have also just entered this world, including Carnage, Riot, and the Vulture, a displaced member of Earth-616. Although no movie has yet seen the superhero in person, Spider-Man does exist in this realm.
The LEGO Universe (Earth-131222)
The Spot visits a new dimension called Earth-131222, made entirely of LEGO, as he travels around the cosmos to obtain energy. The Spider-Man from this dimension sees the bad guy and tells Miguel O’Hara about him, exposing himself to be one of the top Spider Society members. The stop-motion animation used to illustrate the events on Earth-131222 is reminiscent of the prior stop-motion animation work Phil Lord and Chris Miller produced on The LEGO Movie, one of the finest animated films of the 2010s. There isn’t much known about this reality other than the fact that J. Jonah Jameson, who is portrayed by J.K. Simmons, appears to exist in practically every universe, and he is a variation of Spider-Man.
Spider-Man India’s Universe (Earth-50101)
Miles Morales pursues Gwen Stacy through a portal to Earth-50101 in the second act of Across the Spider-Verse, where she is looking for the Spot. They encounter one of the finest Spider-Man characters from Across the Spider-Verse there, Pavitr Prabhakar, aka Spider-Man India. The events of Earth-50101 take place in Mumbhattan, a different New York that appears to have been merged with Mumbai in India. The father of Pavitr’s girlfriend was supposed to perish defending a kid from falling rubble in this particular scenario. However, Miles and Gwen’s appearance cut short this “canon event,” possibly dooming Earth-50101 to annihilation.
Miguel O’Hara’s Universe (Earth-928)
The Earth-928 of Miguel O’Hara is one of the last realities shown in Across the Spider-Verse. As a result of interfering with a canon event and receiving a reprimand from the head of the Spider Society, Miles and Gwen are sent to O’Hara’s Earth. As Miles discovers the truth about the Spider-Verse and his role inside it, a large portion of the movie’s third act also takes place in this timeframe. The Miguel O’Hara of Marvel Comics lives on the future planet Earth-928. This reality also serves as the multiverse Spider Society’s headquarters in Across the Spider-Verse. As a result, Earth-928 is always populated with literally hundreds of distinct Spider-Man variations, perhaps making it one of the safest locations in the multiverse.
The Universe Without Spider-Man (Earth-42)
Earth-42, the last world encountered in Across the Spider-Verse, is a dreadfully gloomy place. Miles is taken hostage by a malicious version of himself who goes by the name of the Prowler on this planet. Miles is left in this universe at the end of Across the Spider-Verse without any way to leave. The spider from Earth-42 is the same one that bit Miles Morales in the first movie. Earth-42 was left defenceless since that spider was intended to bite Peter Parker from its world. As a result, Manhattan Island was taken over by the Sinister Six Cartel, and New York City as a whole descended into corruption. Captain Jefferson Davis-Morale was slain as a result of these incidents, which caused Miles Morales to decide to live a life of crime as the Prowler.
