A new podcast called “With Great Power: The Rise of Superhero Cinema” has launched to study the popular movie genre of the twenty-first century while discussions about superhero weariness continue. The podcast, which is produced by the Wall Street Journal and is presented by Ben Fritz, explores the commercial and Hollywood sides of superhero films and include interviews with business experts, former Marvel execs, and important figures from DC Entertainment. By integrating audio from the movies, fan interviews, and archive material, Fritz hopes to give listeners an immersive experience.

The programme looks into key occurrences including the conflict over creative authority that led to Kevin Feige, the current head of Marvel, and reclusive millionaire Ike Perlmutter, the company’s former owner, to part ways. Fritz also discusses Zack Snyder’s intentions for DC Entertainment’s growth and demise. Feige does not present, but his influence and the power struggle between he and Perlmutter are evident throughout the episodes.

The four episodes of “With Great Power” will be available on all podcasting services on July 5, 6, 7, and 9 as part of The Journal, The Wall Street Journal’s daily flagship podcast. Fritz recognises the need for a concentrate on quality and consistency as the superhero movie industry changes and both Marvel and DC confront difficulties. Despite the problems, recent hits like “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” have maintained their appeal, showing that there is still a market for well-made superhero movies and TV programmes.
