Fear the Walking Dead star is supposed to take Jonathan Majors’ place as the MCU’s Kang

Although Kang’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still unknown, a front-runner has surfaced as the person being considered to succeed Jonathan Majors. Majors, who previously portrayed Kang in the MCU, was supposed to return to the character for the next movie, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Majors lost his job as Kang following a jury’s verdict of convicted on counts of violence and harassment of a former partner. Although it’s unclear if Marvel Studios would recast the part with a different actor playing Kang, movie insider Daniel Richtman claims that celebrated actor Colman Domingo has been considered to replace Majors in the role.

Since this hasn’t been confirmed, it’s better to take the rumour with a grain of salt for the time being. Having said that, fans are talking about Domingo playing the part online, which is why the rumour is gaining traction so fast. Fans of Walking Dead may recognise the actor most from his portrayal of Victor Strand in the first spinoff series, Fear the Walking Dead, which just concluded and significantly freed up Domingo’s schedule. In addition, Domingo won a Golden Globe for his critically praised performance in the Netflix film Rustin, which pleased reviewers. Domingo’s guest appearance on HBO’s popular series Euphoria would also win him a Primetime Emmy Award. In addition to providing voiceovers for the recently released movie Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken, Domingo is now seen in the new musical The Colour Purple.

Domingo’s possible casting is contingent upon Marvel Studios executives choosing to maintain Kang’s presence in the MCU. It’s likely that the character won’t be used in the upcoming Avengers films, as some sources have indicated, and that another supervillain will take his place. The problem is that, particularly in light of what transpired in Loki Season 2, a lot of unanswered issues would remain if Kang’s tale was not concluded in some way. Still, it’s feasible that the character may return to have his tale resolved while having a smaller role in the Avengers sequels. It’s been revealed that Marvel refers to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty internally as just Avengers 5.
