The first images of Tom Hardy on set as Eddie Brock, nicknamed Venom, for Sony Pictures’ upcoming Venom 3 helped bring him back into the Marvel limelight. Nearly two years have passed since Hardy’s Venom’s last major screen appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home’s post-credits scene, which gave him his brief moment of MCU fame as the Multiverse received its first genuine glimmer. And even though there are no hints as to where Eddie Brock and his extraterrestrial buddy will end up in Venom 3, their journey to a different dimension will have a significant influence on their upcoming crazy adventure under the direction of Sony Pictures.
The first set footage from Venom 3 was posted to Twitter by @SpiderMan3news, and it features Tom Hardy acting as Eddie Brock/Venom. Hardy may be seen strolling down a path adjacent to some historic structures while appearing to be wearing sandals and a Hawaiian shirt.
The key issue at this point is what Eddie Brock will be up to once he returns to his own realm after Tom Hardy teased that Venom 3 will be his “last dance” in this iconic character. Given how dark it is outside and that Venom 3 will take place around Da de los Muertos, the only other images from the set of the film suggest that Eddie’s story may begin there.
The Doctor Strange actor Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ted Lasso’s Juno Temple are apparently in the running to be Hardy’s co-stars in this Sony movie. Fans are also eagerly awaiting further details on which new characters will be featured opposite Hardy. Only time will tell who he fights this time around given that he has previously engaged in a handful of titanic conflicts, like his war against the extraterrestrial Symbiote Riot in the original Venom and Woody Harrelson’s horrific portrayal of Carnage in Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
