In a behind-closed doors look at What If…? season 2, Nebula and Happy Hogan steal the show. Marvel’s website finally released the synopses for the third episode and the forthcoming season premiere of What If…? after an early press screening. Nebula joins the intergalactic police force and is “desperate to escape her father’s shadow, as she sets out to prove her detective chops” in the premiere, “What If… Nebula Joined the Nova Corps?,” which imagines “a world where Ronan deposes Thanos long before the events of Infinity War.” In contrast, the villain of Iron Man 2, Justin Hammer, will lay “siege to Avengers Tower during the annual holiday party,” in episode three, “What If Happy Hogan Saved Christmas?,” forcing Hogan to thwart his plans. However, in attempting to prove his heroism, Iron Man’s errand boy might end up changing himself in more ways than one. The trailer for What If…? showed snippets of Nebula’s narrative, but it concluded with a long shot of Jon Favreau’s character Hogan talking to Kat Dennings’s character Darcy Lewis about his predicament and how it clearly resembled Die Hard. A few other plotlines that were tucked away in the teaser included a sequel to the season’s Captain Carter post-credit scene, the axed Gamora/Tony Stark episode from season 1, Hela teaming up with Shang-Chi’s Wenwu to battle Odin, and an early Avengers-like roster that included Hank Pym Mar-Vell and the Winter Soldier, among others, fighting young Peter Quill. The season will debut an original character called Kahhori, a Mohawk woman from the Haudenosaunee Confederacy who finds the Tesseract and absorbs its power, in addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s roster of current characters.
Marvel Studios is currently developing a few original animated programmes for the Phase 5 timeline, despite having recently pushed back the release dates for a number of shows and movies. In addition to What If…?, the press conference revealed Eyes of Wakanda, a new Black Panther-themed television series, with a tease that said, “Brave warriors have been tasked with travelling the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artefacts throughout Wakandan history.” This is the tale of them.” Other prospective animated shows include Spider-Man: Freshman Year, Marvel Zombies, and X-Men ’97, which is a reboot of the legendary X-Men: The Animated Series with much of its original cast returning. MCU stars confirmed for these upcoming shows include Iman Vellani as Marvel Zombies and Charlie Cox as Daredevil from Freshman Year. Recently, Kamala Khan stated, “Kamala is kind of the centre of the show.” She’s essentially the story’s Frodo, they said when they told it to me. And I thought, “That’s incredible.”
