Fixing the Marvel Universe with a new X-Force series: X-Men ’97’s forge

Marvel has revealed more information and the cover of the first issue of X-Force, one of the X-titles, as part of the linewide “X-Men: From the Ashes” relaunch. Marvel has previously teased three new X-Men “satellite” books. Geoffrey Thorne will write the series, while Marcus To will illustrate it. Fresh from his current X-Men ’97 storyline, Forge will play the role of the mutant hero in the series. His superpower is the capacity to see things that others cannot, and he will use this talent to develop machines and weapons to solve issues. Now that Forge has identified an issue inside the Marvel Universe, he has made the decision to assemble a fresh group of mutant heroes to “fix” these problems—whether or not anyone requests for their assistance!

Forge’s upcoming X-Force team will have a flexible roster, adding experts as needed, such as Deadpool, who will make a guest appearance in the first issue of the new series. However, Rachel Summers, Betsy Braddock, Sage, Surge, and Tank are the primary characters in the book. Marvel has disclosed information on this X-Title for the first time since revealing the three “core” X-Men novels almost a month ago.

In a press release, writer Geoffrey Thorne expressed his happiness that Marvel accepted his proposal for the series. “I’m amazed at how my pitch, which said, ‘That sounds like X-Force to us,’ was received. It’s still X-Force, but with a fresh attitude and a distinct objective. I’ll simply paraphrase the prophet Sheryl Crow when I say that, given all the books being published under this imprint, “all I wanna do is have some fun,” and considering what I get to do and what the others are bringing, I’m definitely not alone. In the same press statement, Artist To—who had previously drawn Marvel’s Excalibur, the series in which Betsy Braddock starred prior to The Knights of X—added, “I was thrilled when Marvel asked me to be the artist for X-FORCE. Growing up, I was an avid reader of the X-books, so I jumped at the chance to help introduce the excitement to both new and seasoned readers. And the cherry on top is getting to sketch Betsy Braddock once more.”
