At the 51st Annual Saturn Awards, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 made history by winning the coveted Best Comic Book Movie title. Joel McHale, a prominent actor and comedian best known for his roles in the television shows Community and DC’s Stargirl, presented the ceremony for the second year in a row on February 4th at the L.A. Marriott Burbank Airport hotel. Since their founding in 1972, the Saturn Awards—a prestigious occasion in the genre entertainment industry—have honoured exceptional accomplishments in science fiction, fantasy, and horror. In person, Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige accepted the prize on behalf of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 at the event.

Director James Gunn thanked the Saturn Awards for selecting Vol. 3 as the Best Comic Book Movie in an Instagram post. A video of Kevin Feige accepting the award with poise was included in the article. Feige, for his part, thanked Gunn for his efforts and appreciated his contribution. It’s interesting to note that James Gunn joined DC Studios as co-CEO after leaving Marvel Studios. This shift hasn’t diminished the studios’ friendship, as seen by the congratulations and acknowledgement given to each other during the Saturn Awards ceremony.

The victory not only confirms Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s position as an exceptional superhero movie, but it also emphasises how linked the comic book movie genre is, with talents from different companies being acknowledged and honoured by the whole industry.
