The X-Men actors will not be returning for the MCU’s forthcoming Avengers: Doomsday, according to Halle Berry. Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday cast news thrilled MCU fans by confirming the return of 27 Marvel actors and their respective Marvel characters, many of whom will first appear together in the next Avengers crossover film. Despite the absence of certain key actors from Avengers: Doomsday, a significant number of Fox’s original X-Men ensemble will return. Storm star Halle Berry denied rumors that a chair bearing her name will be shown in Avengers: Doomsday’s upcoming cast reveal while chatting with Black Girl Nerds on the Crime 101 red carpet at CinemaCon 2025. Berry told fans to “keep waiting” since she’s “not gonna be there” when asked if it will be announced that she would reprise her role as Storm in Avengers: Doomsday. One of the most well-known characters from Fox’s original X-Men trilogy who hasn’t been added to the cast of Avengers: Doomsday yet is Halle Berry.
In order to keep their roles a surprise for fans, Marvel stars that make a comeback in multiversal MCU films typically deny their involvement in their individual projects. To differing degrees of legitimacy, actors including Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Patrick Stewart have done this. Halle Berry’s remarks should be viewed with caution, but the Crime 101 star has responded in a very direct manner. Given that other X-Men actors have already been formally announced by Marvel Studios, there isn’t much reason why Halle Berry would need to hide her return in Avengers: Doomsday. Avengers: Doomsday’s reappearance of certain X-Men characters implies that the Avengers will combat Doctor Doom by collaborating with one of the numerous live-action X-Men realities. But the lack of characters like Anna Paquin’s Rogue, Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey, and Halle Berry’s Storm suggests a lot of potential outcomes. As an example, the X-Men in Avengers: Doosmday may have come from a reality where some of its members perished, or one where the X-Men are as well-liked as the Avengers and some of the mutant team members had to remain behind to defend their planet. Maybe the remaining X-Men will show up in Avengers: Secret Wars to exact revenge on the ones that died in Avengers: Doomsday.
In any event, the X-Men in Avengers: Doomsday will not be the same characters from Fox’s X-Men films. In X-Men: Days of Future Past, Fox’s original X-Men were slain by the Sentinels and then replaced by other versions. Then, before Hugh Jackman’s original Wolverine perished in Logan, the new X-Men were destroyed. In Deadpool & Wolverine, the X-Men from Wolverine’s history were similarly slain, but by people this time. As a result, it is likely that Avengers: Doomsday will present a whole new X-Men, one that may have a very different beginning and past.
