It’s no secret that Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t met expectations. Although Phases Four and Five were intended to add a number of new characters and plotlines to the MCU, the new course has at best been unsteady. A number of TV episodes created specifically for Disney+ and built upon the pillars of the prior three Phases marked the beginning of Phase 4. Additionally, new characters including She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Shang-Chi, and the Eternals were included.
While many of the TV episodes served to wrap up MCU storylines following the events of Avengers: Endgame, several gave hints about what may come next. Despite this, the fans did not fully understand the direction until Loki travelled the multiverse and found Kang, the person hiding behind the mask. With Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Phase Five descended further into the multiverse. The movie’s dismal box office performance, however, suggests that viewers were not very enthusiastic about the beginning of Phase Five or the new Big Bad, Kang.
However, Loki may be the next movie that makes a clear reference to the MCU’s future while still being in Phase Five and scheduled for release this year. The show could be able to explore a variety of topics, from investigating the TVA to travelling through space and time, and ultimately lead people in the right direction. In many respects, Loki’s special position may help Phase Five reorient.
Over ten years went into creating the cinematic masterpiece that is Endgame. Marvel Studios faced an enormous problem in developing a new plot to keep fans interested in the future, despite their immense success. With the introduction of Disney+, The Infinity Saga came to an end. Disney and Marvel now have a fresh channel through which to reach out to fans with new material.
Marvel used this chance to broaden the MCU and introduce a number of TV projects to the streaming service. WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki were revealed as Marvel TV series that take place immediately after the events of Endgame at the beginning of Phase Four. This decision was made with the intention of tying up loose ends and concluding several stories.
This was excellently shown by WandaVision, which followed Wanda’s character development in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness while also showing you her grieving process. The Falcon and the Winter Solider did the same thing by highlighting the difficulties Sam Wilson encountered when he assumed the mantle of Captain America. While exploring a key idea revealed in Endgame, Loki used an alternative strategy. In many respects, Loki helped viewers understand the multiverse and how the events of Endgame were made possible. While Phase Four was used by Marvel to introduce new characters to the MCU, many fans recognised that the studio was resetting for the next epic. Loki aided with the changeover from the first three Phases to the MCU’s future at this point.
Loki investigated the TVA and spoke with individuals in charge of the show to discover more about the multiple timeframes. Loki was returned to the TVA at the end of the first season, and Sylvie murdered Kang in the Citadel. It was very evident that reality had been altered with a new Kang in command when Loki returned to Mobius. But Loki was still Loki, and he knew things about Kang that no one else seemed to know.
With this information, he is directly responsible for repairing the chronology. It’s unclear whether the intention is to recreate the holy chronology, but it seems evident that Loki will play a significant role moving forward. Many speculate that viewers may even witness Loki go to several eras, including the main MCU era, to enlist the aid of a few well-known figures in his fight against Kang. It makes sense for Loki to assemble the crew because he is the one who is cursed with knowledge.
While viewers are aware that Loki may be driven to track down Sylvie and confront Kang, the second season of the programme also allows Marvel a chance to explore alternative MCU trajectories. The multiverse that the next tale is predicated on means that anything may happen at any time. Marvel might then send Loki to other timelines to investigate various routes. In order to decide on the best course of action for upcoming MCU films and TV episodes, it may then monitor how fans respond to the scenarios. The second season of Loki, in the opinion of many viewers, is crucial for generating interest in the next epic story. After Quantumania’s box office performance, it is obvious that Marvel has to hit a home run to pique fans’ interest in returning to the theatres for the remainder of Phase Five and the Phases to come.
