Following Kathryn Hahn’s recent remarks, a reunion between Agatha Harkness and the Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be closer than ever. Hahn’s most recent appearance was at the conclusion of Agatha All Along, the character’s solitary voyage that aired on Disney+ in the latter months of 2024. Following Agatha’s quest to recover her witchy abilities after the Scarlet Witch stole them from her in the 2021 narrative, this tale was adapted from the conclusion of WandaVision. Agatha All Along was surprisingly one of the higher-rated Marvel TV series for the most part. Few anticipated that it would be as genuinely delightful as it was, and the popularity of the program was aided by Hahn’s portrayal, the other members of the Agatha All Along ensemble, and the hint that the character might have an MCU future. Regarding the latter component, Agatha’s newfound relationship with Wanda’s son Billy Maximoff leaves up the prospect of her meeting with further MCU characters in the future. This, together with Hahn’s previous remarks, increases the likelihood of Wanda and Agatha’s ideal reunion.
First, it’s important to consider why an MCU reunion between Agatha Harkness and the Scarlet Witch would be so fascinating. Wanda overcame Agatha and imprisoned her in Westview at the conclusion of WandaVision, making the former a hero and the latter a blatant evil. The two have experienced substantial modifications since then. In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wanda went on a multiversal murderous rampage to reclaim the children she had lost in WandaVision, making her one of the MCU’s most formidable antagonists.
With these changes in mind, it would be fascinating to see how Agatha and Wanda interact now…
Agatha’s path of partial redemption in Agatha All Along began with her release following her seeming death. Both Wanda’s kid, Billy Maximoff, and Agatha’s new coven provided her with this atonement. The title witch was seen serving as Billy’s spiritual mentor at the conclusion of Agatha All Along. It would be interesting to observe how Agatha and Wanda interact in light of these developments; will the latter be able to forgive the former now that she is supporting her son? What would Agatha think of Wanda’s transformation into a villain? All of the questions are fascinating. However, it would be difficult to pull off this reunion right now. This is because Scarlet Witch apparently died in the previously described incident. Scarlet Witch realized her mistake and demolished the mountain of Wundagore at the conclusion of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, sending the rocks and rubble down on top of her. The events of Agatha All Along seem to have begun with this death, which released Agatha Harkness from the spell Wanda had cast on her.
However, since Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there have been suspicions regarding the reappearance of Scarlet Witch. Many have questioned if the character’s absence during the past few years may be explained by her feigning her own death. Given the Scarlet Witch’s prophecy that she is destined to ruin the multiverse, some have speculated that her absence may have been related to it. Multiversal versions are another popular hypothesis regarding her reappearance, with the caveat that this form would not be the Scarlet Witch because there is only one. Evidently, though, a Wanda-Agatha reunion would be tough. Considering all of this, there is still a chance that the two characters may reunite in the MCU. One prominent reason for this is Kathryn Hahn, who recently stated which characters she would most want to face up against in potential MCU movies or TV episodes. When questioned about this during an appearance on Mythical Kitchen’s Last Meal series, Hahn said that, after her part in Agatha All Along, characters like Doctor Strange and Loki would be entertaining companions for Agatha Harkness.
Hahn continued by saying that she had nothing against Wanda Maximoff and herself sharing the screen once more, even though she chose these two roles. This and Agatha’s intimacy with Billy Maximoff may eventually result in a reunion. Given the several theories being developed that suggest Scarlet Witch’s death is not being accepted at face value, it would be difficult for Marvel to resist Hahn’s demands for such a reunion. An MCU reunion between the two witches may be closer than ever to happening years after their previous encounter in WandaVision.
