Hugh Jackman, who will reprise his role as Wolverine in the forthcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, keeps himself in shape while filming on Deadpool 3 is still on hold. A bearded Jackman shared a video of himself stretching before filming while humorously making sounds like he’s in pain on his X page. As he intensifies his training for the Deadpool threequel, in which he will portray Wolverine for the first time since 2017’s Logan, he captioned the photo with the phrase “the workout hurts so good.” Jackman’s participation in Deadpool 3 was revealed in September of last year when he announced he was ending his Wolverine retirement in a video alongside Ryan Reynolds, who plays the title “Merc With a Mouth.” He shared a rigorous training video in March to demonstrate his metamorphosis back into the beloved mutant as part of his unrelenting preparation for the role of the renowned anti-hero. Additionally, throughout his tenure in the X-Men franchise, he has grown back the facial hair that has come to be associated with Wolverine.

Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike that delayed production on Deadpool 3 in July, the actors’ contract negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) are now at a standstill. There are new concerns about when Deadpool 3 will debut when these two factors are combined with the just ended WGA strike, which lasted from May to September. The planned threequel may have been dropped off the first half of Disney’s 2024 release calendar, according to a Disney earnings call from August. An further report from September hinted to a probable delay for the Shawn Levy-led initiative. Levy stated Deadpool 3 was around halfway done when the SAG-AFTRA strike halted production, making it the first R-rated MCU film ever. Along with Jackman and Reynolds, the Phase 5 movie also stars Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Morena Baccarin as Deadpool’s girlfriend, Vanessa. In addition, Jennifer Garner will return to the part of Elektra Natchios, a character that appeared in the films Elektra and Daredevil in 2005.
