Upcoming fan art for Marvel Studios’ upcoming Vision Quest series on Disney+ envisions Ultron making a comeback to the MCU as the antagonist. In the 2015 film Avengers: Age of Ultron, James Spader played Ultron, an artificial intelligence that Tony Stark and Bruce Banner created through their research on the Mind Stone contained in Loki’s sceptre. Although Ultron and his army may have posed a persistent threat to the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they were vanquished during the Phase 2 crossover project. Despite this, the antagonist has made a few cameos in the years since, leading many to speculate that this may be a prelude to Ultron’s reappearance in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. Marvel Studios’ upcoming Vision Quest series on Disney+ is one of the most popular theories regarding which upcoming MCU projects would be best to mark Ultron’s return to the franchise. In brand-new fan art posted by bensolo_cup, Ultron is now envisioned as the antagonist of Vision Quest, facing off against Paul Bettany’s brand-new White Vision.

After providing the voice of JARVIS, Tony Stark’s robotic assistant, since Iron Man (2008), Bettany starred in Avengers: Age of Ultron as Vision in a live-action film. Since Ultron’s consciousness was initially intended to reside in Vision’s body, this connection may indicate that Ultron will eventually return to the MCU in WandaVision’s upcoming Vision Quest spinoff. Because James Spader’s Ultron was never fully realised, Avengers: Age of Ultron is generally considered as the least strong of the four Avengers films in the MCU. Many viewers were disappointed that Ultron, one of the Avengers’ most enduring enemies in Marvel Comics, was defeated so easily in Age of Ultron. Nevertheless, Ultron has since made appearances in Marvel Studios’ What If…? season 1 as an alternate version of Infinity Ultron, who took possession of Vision’s body and the six Infinity Stones, endangering the entire multiverse, and in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as enhanced security drones for Earth-838’s Illuminati. Many people still hold out hope that the original Ultron will make a comeback to the MCU, even though Ultron in all of his guises has posed a fairly constant threat to the franchise. Since James Spader’s schedule is more flexible, there have been rumours that he may play Ultron again in the months after the finale of his NBC series The Blacklist. There have been theories that Ultron may make a comeback in Vision Quest or Marvel Studios’ next film Armour Wars, in which Don Cheadle’s character Rhodey will battle villains using stolen Stark technology. Though nothing is official yet, either of these projects would present Ultron’s eagerly awaited MCU comeback with the ideal setting.
