The debut teaser for the studio’s WandaVision spinoff, Agatha All Along, appears to be a potential horror flick, although it was difficult to predict what to expect from Marvel over the months they spent introducing fresh cast members for the film.
Agatha All Along’s new trailer shows that, despite WandaVision’s ending giving the impression that Agatha Harkness could be locked in a horror sitcom of her own, she has been trapped in a crime drama a la Mare of Easttown, thinking herself to be a detective pursuing a murderer. It’s interesting to note that, in light of the events in Multiverse of Madness, Agatha’s false reality has a brief mention of Wanda Maximoff before she encounters Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza), a new witch who inspires her to escape the delusion. Even though it’s unknown if Wanda is still alive, the teaser makes it apparent that Agatha has lost her power and would require a whole coven’s assistance to regain it.
Agatha All Along appears to be a darker, more horror-focused Marvel effort than WandaVision, which would make it one of the company’s more avant-garde recent releases. However, much like glamours, trailers can be misleading, and until Agatha All Along premieres on September 18th, we won’t know what secrets the show has in store.
