After Marvel Studios made significant creative changes to the Disney+ revival, two of the most beloved characters from the original Netflix series are allegedly returning to Daredevil: Born Again. Elden Henson (The Mighty Ducks) and Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood) are anticipated to work with Charlie Cox again in Daredevil: Born Again, where they will play Foggy Nelson and Karen Page, respectively. This information comes from a Marvel source. The rumoured casting of Henson and Woll may be a part of the new creative route Marvel Studios is taking the revival in, as they now accept Netflix Marvel series as canonical members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Additionally, it has been more than five years since Marvel fans last saw the couple in the third and final season of the original Daredevil series, in which Foggy persuaded Matt and Karen to resume their collaboration. Prior to the announcement of this casting, Woll had previously discussed her absence from Daredevil: Born Again on December 12 and called her part as Karen Page “one of the great roles of my her career so far.” “I think that any version of Karen that returns, whether it’s her, whether it’s me, whether it’s not me, whether it’s in comic books, whether it’s in 50 years, whatever it is, I just hope that it continues to honour her,” she went on. that you never play the supporting role.” It has been previously reported—prior to the creative direction being reset—that Foggy and Karen would not be appearing in Daredevil: Born Again.
After the WGA strike ended, officials at Marvel Studios apparently weren’t happy with the first footage they saw from the original production, so they formally opted to make changes to the Daredevil: Born Again creative team. In the end, showrunner Dario Scardapane—who had previously worked on The Punisher series—replaced original head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman. Furthermore, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, the directors of Moon Knight, have agreed to return as the show’s principal directors. Actor Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in Daredevil: Born Again, expressed his trust in the film despite the changes that are occurring behind the scenes, complimenting Marvel execs on the care they are paying to the MCU resurrection. “The tone and vibe are the same. The supervisors are paying it an amazing amount of attention,” he said. Meanwhile, original Daredevil series creator Steven DeKnight also remarked on the big creative change, adding that he’s “delighted” that Marvel Studios has “finally realised you need a true showrunner who’s a writer to make a series work.” Alongside Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Nikki M. James, Michael Gaston, Arty Froushan, and Sandrine Holt, Daredevil: Born Again will also include these actors. The latter will play Vanessa Fisk, the wife of the Kingpin, who was formerly portrayed by Ayelet Zurer. In addition to Cox and D’Onofrio, Jon Bernthal will make his MCU debut in the soon-to-be Disney+ series, in which he will reprise his role as The Punisher/Frank Castle. D’Onofrio recently provided a favourable update regarding the state of the show while promoting Echo, hinting that filming is “gonna start soon.”
