James Gunn’s employment inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe ended with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, however I Am Groot filmmaker Kirsten Lepore claims that James Gunn’s DNA remained there throughout Season 2. Lepore said in an interview that even though Gunn did not serve as an executive producer for I Am Groot Season 2, he was confident that the production crew would adequately tell the tale. “I believe he had a great deal of faith and trust in us, especially following Season 1. I saw that as an endorsement and thought, “Okay, we found our groove, we’re doing what we do, James gives us the thumbs up.” I believe we are prepared for Season 2,” Lepore stated. “He created this character, so his fingerprints and DNA are always there.” Gunn was an executive producer for season one of “I Am Groot.” He and Lepore debated how to handle the protagonist most effectively at the moment. At the start of Season 1, we had a chat that I remember. To make sure that we were on the same page, we had a discussion about, say, the character’s background,” Lepore said. “I wanted to give that character justice. He shared some pearls of wisdom with me and compared Groot to a terrible baby. As I wrote for Seasons 1 and 2, I always had it in the back of my mind. Those enchanted words of wisdom keep seeping into Season 2 ideas.

Lepore recently expressed her desire to see Baby Groot in a full-length movie. I feel like that’s all I can say is that it would be awesome to watch a Baby Groot movie that was a full length. In whatever capacity they will let me, I adore working with this character, the filmmaker stated. She also mentioned how the character draws in people who are more casual and may not have even picked up a Marvel comic. “It’s weird. I have to say, it’s very crazy. I simply feel like a tiny person entering this planet and become thoroughly engrossed in the MCU with Groot. I don’t even know that much about comics. Through that process, I’ve grown to be a lot bigger fan as well. Following James Gunn’s departure, Groot is the first member of the Guardians of the Galaxy to have a tale in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I Am Groot Season 2 has five more digital films featuring the talking tree’s younger self. The official summary states that “the troublemaking twig explores the universe and beyond aboard the Guardians’ spaceships, coming face-to-face with new and colourful creatures and environments.”
