On the third anniversary of his passing, fans of the late, legendary Marvel Cinematic Universe actor Chadwick Boseman pay heartfelt homage to the Black Panther movie series hero. Boseman received a tonne of love and adoration from MCU fans on X for his portrayal of King T’Challa/Black Panther throughout his tenure in the shared universe. Marvel Perfect Shots paid homage to the “legend” Boseman by stating that he is “still an example to millions across the world.” Another post that said, “You are always in our hearts, you’ve greatly impacted so many lives that we will never forget, Wakanda Forever,” demonstrated how much he is missed. A number of articles also included quotes and stills from Boseman in tribute to some of his most memorable MCU appearances.

Boseman passed away on this day in 2020 at the age of 43 after losing a covert fight with colon cancer, and his loss is still felt inside the MCU. While preparations for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever were intensifying, the actor passed suddenly. In the heartbreaking opening sequence of the critically acclaimed Black Panther sequel, Shuri (Letitia Wright) watched helplessly as her brother passed away from an unknown disease. Boseman was honoured throughout Wakanda Forever, including with a funeral in Wakanda themed in his honour and some of his original movie footage. Boseman transitioned to superhero films after acting in the Jackie Robinson documentary 42, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe first saw him as T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War. Boseman also had appearances in the most recent Avengers films, Infinity War and Endgame, in addition to his acclaimed role in the Oscar-winning Black Panther. In addition, he made an appearance in the Disney+ animated anthology series What If…?, for which he received a posthumous Emmy nomination.

Despite T’Challa’s passing, his legacy is still being upheld in the MCU thanks to Shuri, who has taken over as the new Black Panther. In the meanwhile, it was revealed in a post-credits sequence that Lupita Nyong’o’s character Nakia had been covertly raising Toussaint, a child for T’Challa, in Haiti. Wright has made hints that Black Panther 3 is being worked on, even though Marvel hasn’t officially announced any plans for a threequel just yet. Boseman will posthumously earn a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his numerous acting accomplishments, it was announced in June. Along with Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Michelle Yeoh, and Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige, he will receive recognition.
