Robert Downey Jr. was there during Jeremy Renner’s recuperation from a snowplough accident that almost proved deadly. Renner discussed the terrible disaster he was a part of on New Year’s Day in 2023 during an interview. It took him months to recuperate, and in that time, Downey spoke with Renner frequently via FaceTime chats. Even though Renner was going through “other-worldly pain” at the time, his conversations with Downey always made him feel better. The Hawkeye actor continued by describing how the Iron Man actor complimented him on his appearance and urged him to get well so that Renner could resume work on the upcoming season of Mayor of Kingstown.

Renner remarked, “We ended up having really great FaceTime chats, like we were dating or something.” “Dude, your appearance is the most important thing,” he says. It doesn’t matter how you’re feeling; what counts is how you seem. “You have to go back to work, Mayor. We need to see what happens,” he said. His methods are quite endearing. A few weeks before the second season of Renner’s Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown, which Downey is reportedly a huge fan of, premiered, the actor had an accident. In the end, Renner returned to work on the show as Downey had urged. The show received a third season renewal while he was recovering. A year after the accident, in January, Renner returned to work on the set of Mayor of Kingstown for the third season.

Although it seems unlikely, Downey has stated that his time as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is over. However, there are rumours of a new Avengers film that unifies the original cast, so it’s still conceivable. In the meanwhile, Renner has hinted that he would be open to joining Marvel Studios’ MCU whenever they call him back. That being said, there are currently no plans as to when Renner would make a comeback. Regarding a potential MCU comeback in February, Jeremy Renner stated, “I’m always game,” as reported by Entertainment Tonight. He also mentioned that his co-stars had been paying him visits. “I can assure you that I will have sufficient strength. I’ll be prepared. Those guys who visit me by my bedside have supported me during my recuperation, so they are welcome to have me if they so choose. Something would be involved.
