The Wonder Man series now has a new star after the news that Stella Meghie will serve as the series’ director. Although Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will reprise his role as Black Manta in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom later this year, he is prepared to leave DC and join the MCU with his own Disney+ original.
A character developed by the legendary team of Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Don Heck will be played by the Watchmen star, Simon Williams. Williams initially appears in 1960 as a villain-turned-hero with a variety of superpowers, including teleportation, ionic energy manipulation, strength, and speed. The West Coast Avengers, of which Wonder Man was a founding member, helped him land jobs in Hollywood as an actor and stuntman.
With Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton at the helm and Hawkeye screenwriter Andrew Guest on board as well, the new show promises to explore one of the many Marvel Comics heroes who has not yet been included in the MCU with the attention it deserves in the hopes that it will succeed with the audience so that it has a larger role in the future of the franchise.
