Before summer filming of Marvel Studio’s The Fantastic Four begins, writer Eric Pearson has been brought on to revise the script. According to sources, which include information on modifications being made to several Marvel projects. Executives at Marvel Studios trust Eric Pearson to contribute his experience and knowledge to make sure the project succeeds. Pearson is well-known for his work on Black Widow and Thor: Ragnarok. Audiences and reviewers praised Thor: Ragnarok for reviving the Thor series under Taika Waititi’s directing, whereas 2021’s Black Widow garnered conflicting reviews. The forthcoming MCU movie Thunderbolts will be rewritten with assistance from Joanna Calo, the showrunner of The Bear. Marvel Studios just revealed The Fantastic Four’s cast. The renowned superhero team will be portrayed in a vintage setting evocative of the 1960s by Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Susan Storm/Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bachrach Ben Grimm/The Thing), and Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/The Human Torch). This period has great symbolic meaning since it begins with Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s 1961 debut of The Fantastic Four, which launched the Marvel Universe.
Details like Ben Grimm reading a 1963 LIFE magazine and the team’s antiquated outfits gave rise to rumours that The Fantastic Four might be a period drama. Director Matt Shakman has alluded to big changes, stating that this MCU installment would be distinct from its predecessors thanks to a novel and ground-breaking storytelling technique. Shakman stated in an interview that “There are a lot of differences.” If only I could be more precise. I would want to add more. But from a narrative perspective and a filmmaking method that truly matches the subject, we are doing things quite differently. I would want to add more. I wish I could, but I’m not able to. However, I believe that it will be unlike anything you have ever seen, even anything you have seen at Marvel.”
Since the beginning of the comics, The Fantastic Four have made four appearances in live-action movies. Roger Corman directed a low-budget Fantastic Four movie for New Horizon Studios in 1992. It was not, however, formally disclosed. Following the licencing of the rights to 20th Century Fox, Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer were released in 2004 and 2007. Despite receiving conflicting reviews, both films brought in a sizable sum at the box office. The sequel to Josh Trank’s 2015 revival was cancelled due to its critical and commercial failures. Marvel Studios reclaimed the film rights in March 2019, which paved the way for the current Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to include a film adaptation of The Fantastic Four.
