Luke Cage Return: Mike Colter Casts Doubt on It

Spread MCU News

Fans have been waiting to see whether any other actors from Marvel’s Netflixverse would ultimately have the chance to reprise their roles in the future, and now that Charlie Cox is officially back in the MCU as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, they may finally find out. Sadly, it’s possible that one of these performers put an end to this possibility forever. The Luke Cage actor Mike Colter intimated in a recent interview that a live-action revival of the bulletproof hero is unlikely, at least not with him playing the role.

Colter indicated an interest in returning to the MCU in the early years after Luke Cage was cancelled. But since then, he’s achieved considerably greater advancements in his work. On Paramount+, his current show Evil will return for a fourth season. Plane, his most recent picture, debuts this Friday. Colter was questioned by ComicBook.com if he has been keeping fit in case he receives a call from Marvel Studios while on the road promoting the latter. Whatever the case, it appears that he is adopting the maxim “always forward, always” from his previous role.

I just try to stay in reasonable shape just because,” explained Colter. “But I don’t think about Luke Cage opportunities… It’s one of those things where it’s in the rearview mirror at this point. If somehow I get a call, my dance card is kind of full. But if I get a call, something happens, great. I had a good time. I’m happy, more than happy, to let someone else take on that mantle or that role. That character’s living on for a long time. Fans are going to have that character in one way, shape, or form for the rest of their lives, and I’m happy to have been a part of that for those guys.”

To be honest, Cox did just that before Marvel approached him about acting in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and we all know how that played out. Cox suggested that another actor may take on his role. Colter’s acting career is promising, but for the time being, it appears that he has no link to the MCU. Fans can next catch Cox in the role of Marvel’s Man Without Fear in the upcoming Disney+ original series Daredevil: Born Again, which also stars Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
