Regarding Madame Web, Hideo Kojima didn’t have much to say, and his response went viral on the internet. Popular for his work on successful video game series like Metal Gear, Hideo Kojima responded to Madame Web with a post on X. The message itself is ambiguous because it only says, “I saw Madame Web at the theatre,” and it incorporates images from the posters. There have been almost 129,000 likes on the post. Given how Kojima responds to films he likes, this was perceived as a criticism to the movie even if it wasn’t an explicit attack. He was very complimentary, for instance, while discussing his opinions on other Marvel flicks, including Avengers: Endgame. It’s thought that this is his technique of expressing his distaste for a certain movie because he is well known for posting one-sentence evaluations of other films, some of which have received negative critical acclaim.

It would not come as a surprise if Madame Web failed to impress Hideo Kojima. Both reviewers and moviegoers have frequently responded in that way to the picture, which has received harsh criticism since its premiere. It now has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 13%, which is less than Morbius, which held the previous record for being the lowest-rated Spider-Man Universe movie from Sony. Even with its dismal audience rating of 57%, Madame Web nevertheless received a higher rating than the reviewers did. With its global ticket sales, Madame Web has already made $91 million at the box office. This figure is thought to be low for a brand-new Marvel Comics movie, and Sony is probably going to have to pay a hefty price for it. Madame Web reportedly had a budget of more than $100 million, and the movie is extremely unlikely to turn a profit with additional marketing expenses. Madame Web was directed by SJ Clarkson. Along with Claire Parker, Matt Sazama, and Burk Sharpless, she co-wrote the script. Stars like Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Adam Scott, and Emma Roberts round out the cast, led by Dakota Johnson. According to the description, “Cassandra Webb is a paramedic in New York City who begins to exhibit symptoms of clairvoyance throughout the film. She is forced to face previous secrets and defends three young ladies from an enigmatic enemy who wishes them dead.”
