Mahershala Ali, the Oscar winner, at last spoke out about the state of Marvel Studios’ long-delayed Blade film. The Blade reboot has experienced several creative setbacks since it was first announced in July 2019. The first of these was the departure of director Bassam Tariq from the project. Rumours of Ali’s turbulent pre-production have surfaced in recent months, following reports that he asked for numerous script revisions. The True Detective actor has finally provided Marvel fans with an optimistic update regarding his Blade reboot, saying that he is still fully committed to the project in a recent interview. This follows reports that Ali was thinking of leaving the role after being cast as the fourth lead in an early draught of the script. “We are addressing it. I could only tell you that. The project’s direction really encourages me,” Ali remarked. “I anticipate that we’ll pick up where we left off. Regarding where things stand, who is involved, and who is setting the pace for scriptwriting, directing, and other related tasks, I’m genuinely encouraged. That being said, that is all I have to say.”

On April 12, it was announced that Pearl actress Mia Goth had been cast in the upcoming Blade film, which will take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to reports, Goth will portray Lilith, the antagonist. In addition to Goth and Ali, Delroy Lindo of Da 5 Bloods and Aaron Pierre of Krypton will also feature in the movie. Since Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman/Black Knight was the first to interact with Ali’s Blade following the latter’s voice cameo in the closing credits of 2021’s Eternals, it is currently unknown if Whitman will also make an appearance in the Blade reboot. Yann Demange of Lovecraft Country will helm Marvel Studios’ Blade reboot, which is based on the Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan comic book character. Screenwriter Michael Green is rewriting the script. This is also one of the first MCU films from Marvel Studios to be rated R. As stated in the project’s original synopsis, the movie centres on a half-immortal hero who sets out to “rid the world of vampires as a way of avenging his mother, who was killed by a vampire as she gave birth to him.” It’s not yet clear if the reboot would stick to the same plot, since several writers have already joined the project. Wesley Snipes originally portrayed the character in three live-action films, Blade (1998), Blade II (2002), and Blade: Trinity (2004). In addition, Stephen Dorff, Ron Perlman, Donnie Yen, Norman Reedus, Jessica Biel, Triple H, and Natasha Lyonne were part of the franchise. Regarding Ali’s selection as the beloved Daywalker, Snipes had previously stated that he’s “happy that he’s been recast and more than likely will do a great job.”
