Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr. didn’t always understand their Marvel movie lines

One of the most science-filled aspects of the MCU has always been the dialogue between Bruce Banner and Tony Stark. There were times when the lines became so convoluted that even Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo could not always understand them. Downey talked about his first screen test experience with technical dialogue for Iron Man in an interview. He mentioned that the last time he really, really went the extra mile to learn the lines was for the Iron Man screen test. He said that there were three scenes that he could have been off book for two days, but instead he spent two and a half months going crazy on them. It took him three to five months to get into the role of Lewis Strauss in Oppenheimer. “Well, I mean, we could be speaking to a tennis ball or everything could change like in the Marvel days. As the science bros, you and I would have these lengthy passages about complete nonsense. “Nevertheless, we recognise its significance for the characters, so it remains significant to us,” Downey remarked, elucidating the distinction between the two parts. “Yeah, but we didn’t know what that was, what that meant,” Ruffalo replied. “It was quite difficult to delve in. On set, we used to drive each other crazy by asking each other, “Why can’t I retain this?” However, we are aware of when it is appropriate to loosen regulations,” Downey said.

Even with the intricate lines, Downey was able to maintain the novelty of Iron Man/Tony Stark for more than ten years. The actor’s achievement was recently explained by directors Joe and Anthony Russo. Joe said that Robert is known for sort of going off-book when he returns to the set, jumping on the couch, and doing other crazy things. He enjoys surprising himself, which is why he does this. He enjoys keeping things novel. For that, he gets excited. Anthony went on, “Unless he was doing that, there’s no other way that he could have played that character for ten films.” Robert’s life has undoubtedly been complex. He is aware of the risks. He is aware of loss and the swings that life can take between happy times and unhappy times. He’s constantly searching for that extra layer of nuance and complexity. I believe he is aware that’s the main reason we go to the movies in the first place. There has been much conjecture regarding Downey resuming his role as Iron Man since the latest MCU films have not been able to capture the enchantment of the Infinity Saga. By declaring that Marvel Studios “are going to keep Iron Man’s death and not touch that moment” again, Kevin Feige refuted these rumours. “To get there, we all put in a lot of years and a lot of effort. Feige said, “We would never want to magically undo it in any way.
