What If…?, a Marvel Studios series, will return with a new cast of Avengers on Disney+ in its second season. Season 2 of What If…?, which will include many brand-new multiverse stories depicting events playing out differently in the MCU, will launch on the streaming service this month. A screenshot from an Avengers-themed episode appears on the official poster for the animated series’ second season, which reveals a cast that differs significantly from the live-action Avengers films. As a consequence, the original Marvel Comics team and the Avengers from the Marvel Cinematic Universe are combined with a crucial addition that was motivated by the first season of What If…?

The What If…? poster pays homage to the first season’s episode where Agent Peggy Carter uses the super-soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers’ Captain America by putting Captain Carter (voiced by Hayley Atwell) in a familiar pose from the original Avengers film. Iron Man (Mick Wingert), Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), Hawekeye (Jeremy Renner), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and Black Widow (Lake Bell) are the other members of the new Avengers squad. It is also known that Captain Carter is the main character in the recently released episode “What If… Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper?” Her episode about being the first Avenger had already opened the first season. Although a number of titles have been floated, indicating potential plots for Season 2, the formal announcement of the other episode titles has not yet occurred. These include one episode featuring Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) with a Christmas theme and another in which the plot revolves around what may happen if Hela (Cate Blanchett) discovered the Ten Rings.

It’s also said that the second season will be far funnier than the first. Bryan Andrews, the director, has hinted before that there will be more creative flexibility for Season 2. Andrews also mentioned how Season 3 will be even wackier, hinting to a potential third season. The filmmaker said in an interview, “We can expand out and things can get a little bit wackier.” “In Season 2, we step it up a level, and in Season 3, we simply become wackier. We get to play with new characters in Season 2 that we haven’t really had a chance to get to know previously, and we get to witness how they interact with some of the returning fan favourites. I’m eager for people to see it because there’s a tonne of really awesome things.”
