Marvel star rules out return for The Marvels

Captain Marvel‘s Mckenna Grace has confirmed she won’t be reprising a teenage Carol Danvers in next summer’s sequel, The Marvels. Grace played a younger version of the character in Captain Marvel, released in 2019. Speaking to ComicBook recently, the actress admitted that she remains hopeful of another MCU appearance at some point in the future. “Oh, my gosh, I wish [she was returning for The Marvels]. That would be so cool,” she said.

“I’ve always wanted to do a Marvel film. I did do Captain Marvel, but I have not come back since. And if I do, I will be honoured,” Grace added. Away from the MCU, Grace is coming back as Phoebe Spengler in the follow-up to Ghostbusters: Afterlife. One person we can guarantee you’ll see in The Marvels is Iman Vellani’s super-powered teen hero Kamala Khan.

Recalling the moment of hearing that she’d play a major part in the movie, Vellani said this June: “It was a night shoot [on Ms Marvel] when they were announcing everything at Disney Investor Day. “Right before they announced The Marvels cast, I get a text from Disney PR, I get a text from Brie Larson and I get a text from our producers all at the same time saying I’m in the movie, and then they announced it on the screen.

The Marvels is an upcoming American superhero film based on Marvel Comics featuring the characters Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau. Wikipedia
