Marvel Studios celebrates 15th anniversary with new MCU collection

Marvel will publish brand-new collector’s edition concept art volumes to mark the Infinity Saga’s 15th anniversary. The Multiverse saga that the MCU is now on has a ways to go before it can match the significance of the Infinity Saga. Phases 1-3 showed how the Avengers were created, the backstories of several characters, and finally how Thanos was stopped after wiping out half of all life with the help of the Infinity Stones. Giving credit to specific films is hard because of the interconnectedness between MCU products. Given the significance of the Infinity Saga to the MCU as a whole, Marvel has chosen to consistently display appreciation for it on several occasions in the past.

Infinity Saga Art Books are announced by Marvel

The partnership between Marvel and Titan Books was formally established, and the two companies would occasionally publish concept art volumes for each Infinity Saga film. The “Infinity Saga” will be branded at the top of each book in an unique “updated collector’s edition set” to commemorate the saga’s 15th anniversary, which started with Iron Man in 2008.

The volumes themselves are reprints of concept art books that were distributed accompanied each Infinity Saga movie. For instance, a book titled The Art of Iron Man the Movie was also published in conjunction with the 2008 premiere of Iron Man. Each book will be released in the sequence that the original art books were published, starting with Iron Man: The Art of the Cinema in June and concluding the series with Avengers: Endgame: The Art of the Movie in 2025.

Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Thor, the first three comics in the new series, will all have set release dates from Marvel. On June 27, Iron Man will be available for purchase, followed by Iron Man 2 on July 25 and the Thor book on August 29.

Iron Man: The Art of the Book will be “a richly illustrated tome,” according to Marvel, and it will provide readers an understanding of “the creative process behind” the MCU’s first movie:

“Iron Man: The Art of the Movie” is a fully illustrated book packed with exclusive content that will treat fans to a thorough, one-of-a-kind, and privileged behind-the-scenes look at the creative process behind the cutting-edge technology used in the blockbuster motion picture. It is being reissued to commemorate 15 years since Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man” launched the Infinity Saga chapter of the MCU.

Exclusive information from “important players” including Jon Favreau, the director of Iron Man, “special effects geniuses,” and others will also be included in the art book:

“Follow the whole artistic development of the movie, from the basic concept to the armour design to the final depiction you see on screen. Here, key players such as director Jon Favreau, Stan Winston Studios’ special effects masters, award-winning concept illustrators, visual effects designers, and storyboard artists who worked on the set and behind the scenes to create the art of “Iron Man,” reveal everything you need to know about the movie’s production.”

Marvel has celebrated the Infinity Saga before, and this new book series is probably not the last. A massive special edition compilation of all 24 Infinity Saga films was published in 2020, and in September 2022 it was revealed that additional collector products from the Infinity Saga will go on sale. Marvel seems to have made tribute to the Infinity Saga a recurring motif, but why is it so significant? Almost no one could have foreseen how big of an influence the MCU would have on the film industry when Iron Man was released in 2008. The Infinity Saga as a whole actually propelled superhero movies into a greater limelight since the idea of having such a vast, linked universe had never been achieved on screen before.

Although while the Infinity Saga was formally concluded four years ago, its ramifications may still be seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe today. The plot of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Infinity Stones moulded the series, which has grossed close to $30 billion, over the course of 24 films. With the launch of this new art book series, Marvel is once more merely expressing gratitude for the factors that have contributed to its success.
