According to a recent rumour, Wanda Maximoff’s story may not be finished since Scarlet Witch may make a comeback to the big screen. Marvel Studios wants to turn a Scarlet Witch project into a movie. WandaVision creator and showrunner Jac Schaeffer is being considered as director and writer for the project, according to a post from the Scarlet Witch Updates X account, which claims insider Daniel Richtman as its source. The rumour has gained traction and been reported by a number of publications. It is important to note that Marvel and Disney have not yet provided formal confirmation of this allegation, thus it should be regarded with caution. Strangely, prior to any information on this movie ever being made public, an extract from The Marvel Cinematic Universe: Scarlet Witch’s demise in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was verified by an Official Timeline, which stated, “Wanda destroys Wundagore – and collapses it upon herself – ending two great threats to all of the Multiverse.” The irony was increased when Marvel Studios President and CCO Kevin Feige made a cryptic statement in 2022 implying that Wanda was still alive: “I don’t know that we spotted her under rubble? A little red flare and a skyscraper falling were seen to me. I’m not sure what that implies.
Focusing on the role in question, Scarlet Witch actress Elizabeth Olsen expressed a desire for Wanda’s comeback to be more humorous, saying, “With Scarlet Witch, we can do anything! We seem to have accomplished a lot. I feel like there’s a lot more humour to be obtained with her now that we can actually enjoy ourselves. She’s a story’s feeling, therefore I’m interested to see what else we can do with her. And maybe we may help her find some forgiveness.” Later, Olsen would say that she didn’t miss being Scarlet Witch, stating that she had enjoyed portraying the role for “nearly ten years.” “And I think the reason why I am not calling Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige every day with ideas is because I’m really proud of what we were able to do,” she continued. WandaVision, in my opinion, was a truly unexpected chance. I would be proud of the work we produced even if someone were to inform me that I was dismissed from the Marvel films.” But more recently, the veteran of the Marvel Cinematic Universe declared that she was ready to let go of Wanda, saying that there “isn’t longevity in one character” and that she “just needs other characters in her life.”
