Marvel fans have been abuzz with rumours of Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Downey Jr. famously portrayed Tony Stark/Iron Man for over a decade, with his character meeting a heroic and emotional end in 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame.”
In a recent interview Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige addressed the rumours of Downey Jr.’s return, stating that there were no plans to bring him back in the near future. Feige explained that Marvel was focused on exploring new characters and stories in Phase 4 of the MCU.Feige also emphasized the importance of honoring the legacy of Tony Stark and Iron Man, and stated that any return of the character would have to be meaningful and not simply a gimmick.
This update may disappoint some fans who were hoping for Downey Jr.’s return, but it also shows Marvel’s commitment to moving forward with new and exciting stories in the MCU. The franchise has already introduced a variety of new characters in recent years, including the likes of Shang-Chi, Eternals, and Ms. Marvel.
