Marvel's Blood Hunt unites a new group of legendary Superheroes

Each of the three Marvel superheroes that are the most underappreciated are starting a new quest. Naturally, vampires are the one thing they all have in common. Three very different heroes are each entangled in the mayhem that has descended upon the Marvel Universe following the spontaneous vampire revolt in Blood Hunters #1. For a variety of reasons, like their shared magical origins or their history of battling alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, each of these heroes is fortunately well-versed in handling comparable challenges.

Blood Hunters #1’s first featured hero is none other than Hawkeye, aka Clint Barton. While there is no supernatural element to Hawkeye’s origin story, he has faced vampires and other night monsters many times during his tenure as an Avenger. Hawkeye has been evading capture for a political killing of late, which he has been all too eager to confess to, even though the Black Widow is aware that he is lying. The Man-Wolf, better known as John Jonah Jameson III, is a major character in Blood Hunters #1. John Jameson initially appeared as the cosmically enhanced Man-Wolf in 1973’s Amazing Spider-Man #124, even though he had made his comic book debut more than ten years before. Even though John Jameson is very much a werewolf in his Man-Wolf form, he is not vulnerable to the typical disadvantages that Earthly werewolves face because of the intergalactic nature of his talents.

The last main character to appear in Blood Hunters #1 is Tandy Bowen, also known as Dagger. She first appeared in the pages of 1981’s Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #64, written by Bill Mantlo and illustrated by Ed Hannigan, along with her longtime sidekick Cloak. The sinister Dr. Simon Marshall experimented on Tandy and Tyrone Johnson, also known as Cloak, endowing them with their respective Lightforce and Darkforce talents. While Tandy’s Lightforce abilities make her one of the most potent weapons against the world’s would-be masters of the undead, Cloak’s Darkforce abilities have thrust him into the center of the vampire conspiracy at the center of Blood Hunt.
