Ron Lim’s Homage Variant Cover for G.O. D. S., featuring The Living Tribunal a celestial entity was published by Marvel. Jonathan Hickman and Valerio Schiti’s Marvel’s G. O. D. S. delves into the hierarchy of omnipotent forces that form the fundamental elements of the Marvel world. The show delves into the motivations and nature of these extraterrestrial entities while presenting a fresh group of Marvel characters. Six Cosmic Homage Variant Covers including the fourth issue Variant cover with The Living Tribunal will feature Lim’s interpretation of series illustrator Schiti’s new designs for the cosmic beings. Lim is well-known for his work on Silver Surfer and the Infinity sagas.
Along with The Living Tribunal, Lim’s Cosmic Homage Variant Covers will adorn G.O. D. S. and highlight Oblivion, Master Order, Lord Chaos, Infinity, and Eternity. The artist’s renowned Cosmic Powers series covers are honoured in the alternative covers. Cosmic giants like Terrax and Thanos appeared in the 1994 television series. Lim tweeted, “It’s so cool revisiting these covers after all these years,” expressing his pleasure over the tribute variant covers. I still recall how much pleasure I took in creating them. It’s a lot of fun to sketch Valerio Schiti’s new character designs for these tribute covers.
Series creator Hickman talked about how he approached creating the unique mythology of G.O. D. S. in the Marvel world and how it was different from writing well-known franchises like X-Men and Avengers in an interview. It’s entirely different, he declared. “The secret is to instill enough Marvel continuity in it so that it grows and becomes part of the Marvel canon. Obviously, the jury is still out, but we won’t know that until the book is finished. Regardless of how people feel about the book, as long as they don’t care, I believe everything will work out.” Hickman went on, “It’s a whole other kind of activity. I’ve worked on several independent novels with completely original themes that I and another creator own. I’ve developed a tonne of original intellectual property. It’s simply a different muscular group.”
