Now that Marvel’s new Ultimates have finally arrived, their first task is to go back in time and change their world’s history. The terrifying scene of the debris and carnage left behind after the terrorist attack which was allegedly carried out by a teenage Tony Star opens The Ultimates. Though they lack a practical means of informing the outside world of this, Tony and his other heroes are fully aware that he had nothing to do with it. These new Ultimates are lucky to have a time machine and have two complete years to find out how to use it to preserve their planet.
The current Ultimate Universe, or Earth-6160, was initially introduced to the public in Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch’s Ultimate Invasion from 2023. Earth-6160, found by the evil version of Reed Richards known as the Maker, was almost exactly the same as the first Ultimate Universe. This made it simple for the Maker to rewrite its history as he saw fit using his resources and expertise, creating a world that was almost entirely devoid of the heroes who would have otherwise come to inhabit it. The pages of 2023’s Ultimate Invasion by Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch revealed the truth of Earth-6160, also referred to as the present Ultimate Universe. Earth-6160, found by the evil version of Reed Richards known as the Maker, was almost exactly the same as the first Ultimate Universe. This made it simple for the Maker to rewrite its history as he saw fit using his resources and expertise, creating a world that was almost entirely devoid of the heroes who would have otherwise come to inhabit it.
In the course of his endeavors, the Maker sought the assistance of Howard Stark, the father of Tony Stark, who, in this alternate universe, evolved into an unexpectedly valiant rendition of Kang the Conqueror. Despite his victory over the Maker, Howard was only able to imprison the villain in his own stronghold for a set period of time. Because of this, heroes like Earth-6160’s Reed Richards and Tony Stark have been working nonstop to figure out a means to make things right before the Maker comes back to destroy everyone who is still alive. The events of Jonathan Hickman and artist Stefano Caselli’s 2023 Ultimate Universe made it clear that Tony and his companions will be up against it all, even though they had rapidly adapted to living heroic lives in their own timeline. Tony’s own armor is being used as a bomb by his shadow cabinet, which is made up of other global leaders, to depict Iron Lad and the others as violent terrorists while the Maker is confined.
