A sneak peek at the upcoming foil variant cover for Spider-Punk was revealed by Marvel. The Marvel four-issue limited series, written by Cody Ziglar (Miles Morales: Spider-Man) and drawn by Justin Mason (Spider-Man 2099: Dark Genesis), will use Hobie Brown’s Spider-Punk as its main character. Ziglar and Mason collaborated on Battle of the Banned, the last Spider-Punk series. Ian Bertram’s foil variant cover for Spider-Punk appropriately portrays Hobie Brown as hallucinogenic and extraterrestrial.

Marvel describes the Spider-Punk series as follows: “Handing an axe and having a wild group of punk rocking heroes support him, he became well-known and a fan favourite very soon! Now that Hobie Brown is back, Spider-Punk rules in a world without Norman Osborn! But this isn’t a victory lap. Justin Hammer and Doctor Otto Octavius have different ideas, such as presenting the world to brand-new Spider-Slaying Sentinels, while Hobie and the others work to restore civilization.” “It feels so friggin’ cool to dive back into Earth-138 with Justin and explore the world of Hobie and the Spider-band even more,” Ziglar said, expressing his excitement at revisiting the Spider-Punk universe. “There are a few new characters joining the Spider-Punk cast, some really awesome antagonists, and some other amazing stuff I just can’t wait for people to see! And sure enough, a Spider-Punk Playlist Vol. 2 is definitely coming,” the author disclosed.

In an Amazing Spider-Man short tale by Dan Slott and Olivier Coipel from 2015, Spider-Punk made his debut. In Slott’s narrative, readers were first introduced to Hobie Brown, a homeless adolescent who develops abilities from the bite of a spider contaminated by President Norman Osborn’s hazardous waste disposal. In the normal Marvel reality, Brown temporarily served as the high-tech robber the Prowler before teaming up with Spider-Man. Spider-Punk led the citizens of New York in a rebellion against the President and his forces by taking on a rebellious appearance and an anti-authority mindset. Osborn was ultimately killed by being beheaded with an electric guitar. Ziglar and Mason’s Banned series, in which Hobie links up with punk versions of Captain America, the Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Ironheart, and Daredevil to eradicate the last traces of the Osborn Administration, was inspired by Spider-Punk’s success among fans. Famously appearing in 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the Spider-Punk character received favourable reviews from viewers.
