As Marvel’s Secret Invasion concludes, the Disney+ miniseries ends a long run for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The last episode of Secret Invasion, which was published on July 26, did not include a post-credits sequence, which has been a mainstay of the MCU throughout its lengthy run. As a result, the miniseries starring Samuel L. Jackson is the only Disney+ MCU production to not have such a scene. Furthermore, it is just the second MCU production to lack one, with no post-credit sequences showing in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame at the conclusion of the Infinity Saga and the penultimate film of Phase Three. The lack of a post-credits sequence for Secret Invasion may surprise some, given the show’s many twists and turns, as well as the fact that the film precedes The Marvels, the planned follow-up to 2019’s Captain Marvel. The miniseries, according to Jackson, was required to set up the events of The Marvels, in which his Nick Fury character is scheduled to appear.
Secret Invasion, in addition to ending the MCU’s post-credit run, has another, less favourable record for Marvel’s common world. On Rotten Tomatoes, the six-episode movie has a 58% average critical rating and a 65% audience score. The critical rating is by far the lowest for any Disney+ MCU show, with every other series receiving an 80% or higher. While many have lauded Secret Invasion for its more adult nature and some of its performances, many have criticised the series for failing to mimic the comic crossover event of the same name. When putting together the series, director Ali Selim stated he was instructed not to read the comics. In addition, the show’s tempo and visual effects have received mixed reviews.
Fans of the ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. agent got to witness more of Fury’s personal life and his issues with ageing as he takes on the Skrull invasion headed by the ruthless Gravik (KIngsley Ben-Adir) in Secret Invasion. Gravik and his fellow radicalised Skrulls took over Earth because they believed Fury and Carol Danvers failed to deliver on their pledge to provide the shapeshifting alien race a new home. Several eye-catching revelations have occurred on the programme, including surprising character deaths and a surprise Skrull Avenger. Secret Invasion, directed by Kyle Bradstreet and executive produced by Jackson, allegedly had a $212 million budget. Ben Mendelsohn, Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Don Cheadle, and Martin Freeman all appear in the series.
