Marvel’s Secret Invasion has received the first reactions

The studio appears to have taken a step back to assess the noise given all the commotion around Marvel’s production and “superhero fatigue” in general. As a result, the pace of producing new MCU projects has slowed, and rumours and talk from behind the scenes suggest that certain planned series and films may take on a different format or perhaps be shelved for a period. Although some leakers may tell you with bravado and confidence, not many of us actually know the truth about these inside discussions. Nevertheless, we do know that Marvel had originally intended to release a number of projects to Disney+ this year. However, just three episodes are now scheduled, with one of them, Echo, perhaps being dropped on the streaming service in a more bingeable format in November.

But before the second season of Echo and Loki debuts later in 2023, we will first watch six episodes of Secret Invasion, which has been hailed as a more mature series and is produced by one of the primary writers on USA’s intricate conspiracy thriller series Mr. Robot. The themes of Invasion appear to fit in nicely with that as this Marvel production centres on a plot featuring a gang of shape-shifting Skrulls who are attempting to invade Earth in high positions worldwide and the one person who might be able to stop them: Nicholas Joseph Fury.

Following multiple and sometimes fleeting MCU appearances, Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his role as Fury in Secret Invasion. The chance to spend more time with the former director of SHIELD has been a major draw for the next series. In addition, this film will have more Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), James Rhodes (Don Cheadle), Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman). Additionally, Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman from Game of Thrones have been added to the ensemble.

Fans may recall that we saw a group of Skrull refugees who were escaping the Kree in 2019’s Captain Marvel. In exchange for his Skrulls receiving a home of their own, their leader, Talos, joined forces with Fury and Carol Danvers to defeat the Kree, but it seems it didn’t work out so well because many of the Skrulls are still irate that Fury hasn’t kept his word three decades later. That includes G’iah (Clarke), Talos’ grown-up daughter, who has a rebellious streak. Gravik, played by Kingsley Ben-Adir, is at the centre of the Skrull scheme to finally settle this issue once and for all. He is the commander of a band of renegade Skrulls that split off from Talos’ side and established themselves at a former radioactive facility in Russia.

Some individuals have already been given access to Secret Invasion by Marvel and Disney, and they have been using social media to share their opinions on the programme, which will begin streaming on Disney+ on June 21. Here are some of their spoiler-free comments. In any case, it’s wise to take them with a grain of salt. You’ll decide for yourself!
