Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has seven nominations at the Game Awards

After a year full of blockbuster releases, like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which has seven nominations, including one for Game of the Year, the Game Awards are almost here. Acclaimed by critics and setting records for sales for Sony and Insomniac, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 enjoys a similar level of success at The Game Awards, where it is nominated in seven categories. Insomniac’s open-world sequel was nominated for best action/adventure game, game direction, narrative, innovation in accessibility, audio design, and voice acting—specifically, Yuri Lowenthal’s portrayal of Peter Parker—as well as the coveted Game of the Year Award, which is reserved for the year’s best and biggest title. Given the game’s enormous popularity with both reviewers and players—it became one of the PS5’s fastest-selling games ever and dwarfed its two predecessors in terms of scope—many fans may not be surprised by these praises. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has a far wider area than its predecessor, with Queens and Brooklyn joining the already busy Manhattan districts. It also contains a tonne of new transport and fighting elements.

Spider-Men Peter Parker and Miles Morales, the two main heroes in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, collaborate to face brand-new villains in a freshly enlarged New York City. During the game’s events, players battle legendary bad guys like Kraven the Hunter, the Lizard, and the Sandman, as well as Insomniac’s fresh take on Venom. The game still has to contend with fierce competition from titles like the highly anticipated role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3, which Metacritic named the best PC game of 2023, and a number of other blockbuster releases from AAA companies like Capcom. In the running for Game of the Year, Resident Evil 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Alan Wake 2, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have all received nominations. After creating an account, fans may cast their votes for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and several other 2023 titles on the official Game Awards website. All categories are now accepting votes through December 7.
