MCU: first glimpse at the rebooted origin of Kingpin

Spread MCU News

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is known for its interconnected storylines and character arcs, and fans are always eager to learn more about their favorite heroes and villains. One of the most beloved villains in the MCU is Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, and new photos from the set of Daredevil: Born Again reveal a rebooted origin story for the character.

The photos show flashbacks featuring a young Kingpin and his origin story, set in New York City during the 1970s. One of the boys in the photos is believed to be a young Wilson Fisk, and the episode reportedly involves neighborhood bullies. While it’s unclear whether Marvel Studios is completely rewriting Kingpin’s origins or exploring another point in his life, fans can expect to see more of the character’s childhood and the events that made him.

This marks a departure from Kingpin’s flashback origin story in the Netflix Daredevil series, in which his younger self was played by Cole Jensen and his abusive relationship with his father shaped him into the Daredevil villain. It remains to be seen whether the MCU’s take on Kingpin’s origins will align with the previous series or take a new approach.

It’s also possible that Daredevil: Born Again’s 18-episode season could include episodes solely dedicated to Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk’s respective histories. While that hasn’t been confirmed, fans are eagerly anticipating the debut of the highly-anticipated series on Disney+ in Spring 2024.

The MCU is known for its attention to detail and commitment to quality, so fans can expect that the rebooted origin story for Kingpin will be well-crafted and fit seamlessly into the larger MCU universe. As production continues on Daredevil: Born Again, fans can look forward to learning more about what Marvel Studios has in store for one of their favorite villains.
