Laith Nakli is a British actor of Syrian descent. Nakli has been working in the film and television industry since 2006, when he debuted as Mr. Fahim Ulleh Khan in “Live Free or Die,” an episode of The Sopranos . Fans may recognize him for his role as Uncle Naseem in the Hulu dramedy Remy, which follows the life of a Muslim-American family in New Jersey.
Disney has officially cast Nakli as Sheikh Abdullah, Kamala’s religious mentor in ‘Ms Marvel’. Sheikh Abdulla is the imam of the Islamic Masjid of Jersey City, the mosque where Kamala and Nakia’s family attend their religious services. This is Nakli’s second role in a show that revolves around the lives of Muslim immigrants in Jersey City.
