Mordo’s hypocrisy: Ignoring his own rule in hatred of Doctor Strange

Spread MCU News

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the character of Karl Mordo, portrayed by actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, is known for his hatred of Doctor Strange. However, Mordo’s behavior towards Doctor Strange seems to contradict his own rule.

In the 2016 movie “Doctor Strange,” Mordo is introduced as a former student of the Ancient One, who becomes disillusioned with the teachings of the sorcerers after witnessing the misuse of magic by his colleagues. He subsequently turns against Doctor Strange, believing him to be a threat to the natural order of the universe.

The way Marvel Studios initially presented him as an ally was interesting. Although not yet being shown as such in the MCU, the movie still placed him on the path to becoming his archetypal villain. Marvel Studios has left a significant tease hanging and unfulfilled because Ejiofor made a comeback in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as a different Mordo from Earth-838.

Mordo’s hatred of Doctor Strange in the MCU goes against his own rule that every action has consequences. His vendetta against Doctor Strange is not based on any wrongdoing, but rather on his own personal beliefs about the use of magic. This inconsistency reveals Mordo’s own hypocrisy and ultimately leads him down a path of darkness.
