Namor’s rights return to the MCU as Marvel reclaims them

Spread MCU News

Namor is reportedly back with Marvel Studios, Marvel Comics, and Disney after Universal purportedly lost all of its rights to him. With Namor, things are a little more challenging than they are with the Hulk. Namor’s rights were divided among four organizations due to the character’s creation, various estates, and various aspects of his character, such as his mutant status, depending on the story: Marvel Entertainment/Marvel Studios, Universal, Fox, and an unidentified outside party, which many believe is a component of Constantine Films connected to Fox.

Universal lost all of its holds on Marvel products on June 15 and 16, including Hulk and Namor. The film rights for stand-alone projects were the primary part of Namor that Universal held. Due to character rights, Marvel was unable to make a stand-alone Namor movie last year. Namor appears to be back in Disney’s custody, nevertheless. It is still unknown how the fourth party is involved in this, and it is also uncertain if they have resolved the problem. It can be a carryover contract that was sold independently by the estate of the original inventor.

If they want Namor in a stand-alone production, Marvel and Disney will probably find a solution to the problem. However, a number of circumstances, including the actor, the circumstance, and Marvel’s enthusiasm in exploiting the character, might prevent a separate Namor movie.
