In the newest Marvels advertisement, Captain Marvel is prepared to fight. Nick Fury declares, “We are at war,” at the outset of the most recent The Marvels trailer. “Captain Marvel, we need you to stop the evil and save the world.” The 30-second advertisement, titled “Fight,” shows brief glimpses of a variety of action sequences from the next Marvel Cinematic Universe film. In one of the brief snippets, viewers can also catch a glimpse of Park Seo-joon’s mysterious Captain Marvel buddy, who is thought to be Prince Yan of Aladna from the comic books. Carol Danvers, as Captain Marvel, has exacted retribution on the Supreme Intelligence by reclaiming her identity from the oppressive Kree. The Marvels’ plot summary states, “Unintended consequences find Carol bearing the burden of a destabilised reality. “When Carol’s obligations take her to a weird wormhole connected to a Kree revolutionary, Kamala Khan, or Ms. Marvel, and her estranged niece Captain Monica Rambeau, now a S.A.B.E.R. astronaut, find their abilities intertwined. To preserve the universe as The Marvels, this odd three will have to band together and learn how to cooperate. Although The Marvels will serve as a prequel to a number of MCU films, including as Avengers: Endgame, WandaVision, Ms. Marvel, and Secret Invasion, it is primarily and mainly a sequel to Captain Marvel from 2019. The $1 billion box office success for Marvel Studios introduced viewers to Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers, who would later make appearances in Endgame, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Ms. Marvel (the last two were brief cameos in post-credits sequences).
With The Marvels taking place after each character’s separate exploits in WandaVision, Ms. Marvel, and Secret Invasion, Carol Danvers is joined by Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) for her next major motion picture adventure. Other characters confirmed to feature in The Marvels include Monica’s mother Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch), FBI agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park), Yusuf’s father (Mohan Kapur), Yusuf’s older brother Aamir (Saagar Shaikh), and Muneeba (Zenobia Shroff) of Kamala Khan. Every performer is repeating their corresponding parts from earlier MCU media. Zawe Ashton joins the MCU as Dar-Benn, a Kree warrior-scientist turned politician who is “hellbent on saving the Kree home planet of Hala and exalting her people to their rightful place in the universe,” according to director Nia DaCosta. Zawe Ashton is engaged to MCU staple Tom Hiddleston (Loki).
