When New York City prosecutors decide not to press charges against Jonathan Majors’ accuser, the story of his court battles takes a dramatic turn. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office declared that they will not be pursuing charges against Majors’ accuser Grace Jabbari after learning that she had turned herself in to the New York City Police Department. The announcement follows earlier tidings that Majors’ legal team is carrying out a separate inquiry into Jabbari’s purported encouragement of the domestic altercation that resulted in the Loki star’s imprisonment. A spokesman for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg stated, “The case against Grace Jabbari has officially declined to be prosecuted because it lacks prosecutorial merit.” “The matter is now closed and sealed.” On March 25, Majors was taken into custody by the New York City police. After the confrontation with Jabbari after an evening out, he was charged with assault and harassment. Jabbari supposedly received treatment for head and neck injuries at a local hospital. Majors entered a not guilty plea to all counts, and his lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, said that Jabbari had changed her story of the event and that they had evidence to support their case, including text exchanges.
Numerous others who claim to have been abused by Majors have consented to work with the Manhattan District Attorney since the March event. A Rolling Stone article that described the actor’s history of abuse dating back to his time as a Yale University acting student fanned the flames of the claims. Attorney Justin A. Pusch for Majors criticised the story, saying that Majors’ immersive acting style was the foundation for the accusations. Majors was dismissed by his agency and has subsequently lost other film projects in spite of the backlash. Nevertheless, the actor continues to play Kang the Conqueror in The Multiverse Saga, the major antagonist of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Majors’ court hearings have been repeatedly postponed in recent months because of Jabbari’s absence; as a result, the actor was given a new trial date of November 29 after the New York judge denied a plea to dismiss the case. Prosecutors also intend to utilise a copy of a September 2022 abuse incident report from the London Metropolitan Police that was previously unreported. This would correspond to the period of time the actor spent filming Loki Season 2 episodes in London.
