Marvel has revealed that on Free Comic Book Day in 2024, the X-Men will make their debut in a narrative that takes place after Krakoa. Marvel previews the fallout from the X-Men’s recent misadventures in a press statement. Marvel’s mutants are now going through one of their darkest periods because of the “Fall of X” storyline, which has severely damaged many of their lives. Many of the mutant team’s mainstays have met an unfortunate end at the hands of Orchis in the plot, while many more are dispersed and urgently searching for a method to turn the tide against their opponents.
The future of the mutants was uncertain at best after they lost one of their most valuable resources—the Resurrection Protocols, which guaranteed that the mutants could be brought back to life. Marvel’s latest revelation, nonetheless, offers optimism that the X-Men will ultimately rise beyond their lowest point. Marvel describes Blood Hunt/X-Men as follows: “A long night has come! Savour the first taste of Jed MacKay’s next story, which will see the vampires from the Marvel Universe emerge from the shadows and engulf the entire globe in darkness. Blood Hunt, which stars the Avengers, Moon Knight, Doctor Strange, and, of course, pop culture’s most famous vampire hunter, Blade, is expected to have a significant impact on the Marvel Universe.”
Although the official solicit for the issue does not state clearly that the X-Men are taking part in Blood Hunt, it does state that Jubilee, who was ostensibly murdered at the start of “Fall of X” in the most recent Hellfire Gala, is back. Though Jubilee’s background as a vampire and the vampiric nature of the event make her rebirth by other methods perfectly plausible, this may hint at the reappearance of the X-Men’s Resurrection Protocols. It’s interesting to note that not a single X-Men member appears on the book’s cover art, indicating that none of them are immune from falling victim to Orchis in their continuous conflict.
