Plan for Zendaya’s MJ in Spider-Man: No Way Home is revealed in concept art

The 2021 threequel Spider-Man: No Way Home experienced a fair amount of creative changes, like with any film project. The previously released concept image of Zendaya’s portrayal of MJ depicts her having a more major part in Spider-Man: No Way Home’s final showdown atop the Statue of Liberty, according to the official Spider-Man: No Way Home – The image of the Movie artbook. Though the sequence was cut from the finished movie, the concept image depicts MJ flying over the Statue of Liberty while donning Doctor Strange’s Cloak of Levitation. In addition, Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds may be seen gazing in awe at MJ in the picture. This sequence would have been different from the final version, in which Ned rather than MJ used the cloak’s abilities. Other concept art from Spider-Man: No Way Home – The Art of the Movie displayed another abandoned idea, this time with Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin donning an Iron suit. This was in addition to MJ’s Cloak of Levitation. The book also reveals sequences that were cut, such as a fight between Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus and Spider-Man’s symbiote costume.

Zendaya and Tom Holland discussed a situation in which producers sought to turn Michael Jackson into a superhero in a December 2021 interview. However, do you recall that they tried for a while? Regarding a potential super-MJ, Holland said, and Zendaya concurred. The star did add, though, that she is OK with a MJ who lacks superpowers. Zendaya stated, “I leave the superheroing to this one.” “I’m actually really pleased with MJ and the role that she plays,” I said.

At the moment, Zendaya also threw in her opinion that MJ functions best in a group setting. Spider-Man rescues the world, but, you know, he needs assistance. She spoke. He can’t figure it out on his own; after all, he’s just a young person trying to figure things out. That’s where Ned and MJ step in, and they work to assist him. Remember, these youngsters are all highly intelligent. I’m completely OK with being a member of a team since they pool their minds, are there for one another, and encourage one another. One day, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), who played a key role in the Spider-Man trilogy in the MCU, wiped MJ’s memories of Peter Parker (Tom Holland), putting an end to their relationship. The dynamics of the movie’s climactic conflict, especially the scene when Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man atones for his mistakes by saving MJ from plummeting, might have been different if this interesting subplot involving MJ and the Cloak of Levitation had been left out.
