Producer of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania Stephen Broussard formally corroborated an MCU fan idea that had been developed following the Phase 3 premiere of Ant-Man and The Wasp. Over the previous eight years, as one of the original Avengers from Marvel Comics found his place in the expansive MCU plot, the Ant-Man trilogy gradually increased in scope. And even though Ant-Man 3 will eventually delve deeper into the Quantum Realm than any of its predecessors, a few significant speculations from the narrative of the small Avenger remain unanswered and unaddressed before the start of Phase 5. Late in January, the movie’s actor, Paul Rudd, promised Easter eggs that viewers might find in it, and the film’s director, Peyton Reed, hinted that “some surprise faces that may pop up in the Quantum Realm.”
Confirmation of Phase 3 Ant-Man Fan Theory

Producer of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania Stephen Broussard verified a fan idea relating to an Easter egg found in Ant-Man and The Wasp during a chat with Inverse. It was discussed during the making of Ant-Man 2: The Wasp that the Quantum Realm was intended to defy all known laws of the surface world, according to Broussard.
“Every time we do something, we sort of test ourselves by asking, “What’s the quantum version of this?” How is it possible to feel as though the rules are slightly off and different? And after Ant-Man 2, discussions about doing that began.”
He remembered the scene where Hank Pym saves Janet Van Dyne, pointing out that viewers could see a tiny city in the distance as they were returning to the surface:
“When they discovered Janet, “we had hidden some little Easter eggs that might have hinted at more life and more civilization down there,” says Broussard. If you’re looking for these DVD freeze frames, that’s what they are. I believe it has already been discovered; there is a scene in which Hank finally saves Janet. And they are using his quantum pod and sled to get back up to our world. And in the distance, you can make out a sort of glass city with a dome on it that blends in with the scenery but has an oddly designed architecture.”
Fans were supposed to consider whether they saw a metropolis in the Quantum Realm or something entirely else as a result.
“I start to wonder if I just saw a microscopic object or a bubble-like cell. Was that a building? Was that a city in reality?”
When he said that the city’s design was “influenced by a very specific piece of comic book art,” he was hinting at the direction that Ant-Man 3: The Last Stand may take things.
“That was setting the stage for Part Three, should we decide to return. You never know when another opportunity will present itself. That was our way of expressing what, if we were lucky, we would do.”
Every every film and television production from Marvel Studios include Easter eggs, some of which don’t have a satisfying conclusion for years. But because the Quantum Realm played such a significant role in the MCU’s first Phase 5 film, the chance to reflect on this little Phase 3 element before it becomes a far more significant aspect of this MCU threequel was ideal. As the major core of the Quantum Realm and to tease the structure of Kang the Conqueror’s subatomic kingdom, this metropolis was shown prominently in the Ant-Man 3 trailers. The Ant-Man plot continues to develop, even in the midst of larger films like Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, giving fans another another enjoyable link to the series’ extensive past. Only time will tell what previous and upcoming films wind up connecting to this new Multiverse Saga adventure, as this is likely just one of many Easter eggs that return to the fore in this sequel.
On February 17, the movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be released in theatres.
