Producer of Ant-Man: Quantumania clarifies Kang’s death confusion

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania has left Marvel fans in shock and confusion with the supposed death of Kang the Conqueror at the end of the movie. However, to add to the confusion, hundreds of his variants showed up in the post-credits scene when they learned of his death. The question that arises from this is how did they know of his demise, and how were they able to gather so quickly?

Thankfully, Stephen Broussard, the Vice President of Production & Development at Marvel Studios and the producer of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, has clarified this issue on the D23: Inside Disney podcast. According to Broussard, the Kang Variants were aware of Kang’s death through heightened technology, as they are all from a far-flung future. He also explained that they “keep tabs on one another” due to the “rivalry between” them.

Broussard’s explanation has put to rest some of the questions surrounding the Kang Variants’ sudden appearance in the post-credits scene. However, it raises other concerns regarding the dangers presented by the Variants. In the TV series Loki, He Who Remains already warned about the danger posed by Kang’s Variants if they were to roam freely across the Multiverse. The post-credits scene in Quantumania showcased hundreds of Variants, and once the violence ensues, anyone and anything in their path is in for a rough ride.

Kang the Conqueror’s power was already on display in Quantumania, specifically toward the end of the movie, where Scott and co. had a challenging time fighting him. Although they were able to destroy the power core of his time chair and kill him, the Conqueror talked about his time ravaging other universes and timelines, even mentioning killing the Avengers. He specifically talked about killing Thor, which puts into perspective just how powerful Kang is.

The Kang Variants also likely have a tremendous amount of power, and if their “squabble” gets out of hand, the Multiverse will need more than just the Avengers to put an end to the conflict. As Broussard hinted, the Variants’ squabble may be showcased on-screen in the future, presenting even more challenges for the MCU heroes.

In conclusion, the clarification provided by Stephen Broussard regarding the Kang Variants’ knowledge of Kang the Conqueror’s death has cleared up some confusion. However, the dangers presented by the Variants still remain, and the future of the MCU looks set to be even more challenging as they face the powerful and dangerous Kang and his Variants.
