Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania was a hit among Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans with its impressive cast of actors, including Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Paul Rudd, and Evangeline Lilly. However, it turns out that the crew had initially considered adding another big name to the cast, Steve Martin.

In an interview with Variety, writer Jeff Loveness revealed that Martin was on the shortlist for the role of Lord Krylar, which was eventually played by Bill Murray. Loveness mentioned that he was a big fan of Martin and had imagined him in the role, but the idea never really went far.

The writer also talked about his admiration for Matt Berry, who was another actor considered for the role of Lord Krylar. Loveness expressed his love for Berry’s work in What We Do in the Shadows and The Book of Boba Fett, calling him a “great” actor.

Although Martin didn’t end up in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, the idea of him joining the MCU is an intriguing one. Martin has a long history in comedy, and his recent work in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building has shown that he’s still going strong. Fans would have loved to see Martin bring his unique comedic style to the MCU.

However, the role of Lord Krylar ultimately went to Bill Murray, who brought his own brand of humor to the movie. Loveness praised Murray’s performance, comparing it to his iconic role in the movie What About Bob? The writer loved how Murray came in and gave his best performance without overstaying his welcome.

Overall, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania was a success, thanks in part to its impressive cast of actors. Although Steve Martin didn’t end up in the movie, the idea of him joining the MCU is still an exciting one for fans. With Phase 5 of the MCU now underway, it will be interesting to see which other big names join the universe in the coming years.
